Innovative variations in the Italian Highway Code

parking for pregnant women and women with children

Innovatiche changes are introduced in the Italian Highway Code. They are immediately operational from today, Wednesday 10 November, after the publication in the Official Gazette.
Interesting variations for niche users’ groups are found. “Pink parkings”, cited among the Italian initiatives in the Open Innovation Platform, are now officially introduced in the Code. These parking slots are reserved for pregnant women and parents with children up to two years of age. The penalties for those who occupy them without authorization are 80 – 328 € for two-wheeled vehicles and 165 – 660 € for the others.
Moreover, from January 2022, people with disabilities will be allowed to park for free on the blue stripes when there is no availability in reserved places. The amounts for car drivers who use parking areas for disabled people are increased: from 168 to 672 € compared to 87-344 € of previous legislation.
New rules for advertising on roads and vehicles are defined too. The prohibition involves any form of advertising whose contents propose sexist or violent messages or offensive gender stereotypes or messages detrimental to respect for individual freedoms, civil and political rights, religious belief or ethnic affiliation or discriminatory concerning sexual orientation, gender identity or physical and mental abilities.
