The TInnGO Lisbon Hub supported the Lisbon Fancy Women Bike Ride, an annual ride of women claiming the streets to celebrate the freedom of cycling. It was a short ride and had a dress code: “Fancy”. It was held in Lisbon on 19 September 2021, as well as in several cities around the world.
It was a women’s event, organised by women to remember the joy of cycling and to inspire more women to cycle in cities: The more women who cycle, the more women will be encouraged to cycle.
According to the organisers, women’s visibility in urban spaces is key to claiming the right to the city. Cycling is a particularly powerful way for women to become visible in society and a completely new way of interacting with the city.
