Assoporti, the Italian Ports Association, promotes an initiative focusing on the issue of the presence of women in transport in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility. Available data show that the number of women active in the sector is still deficient at the European level, especially in the Mediterranean area, and how women hold positions still far from expressing their maximum potential.

The day for gender equality in ports will be on 4 October and will be an event in hybrid mode, with live streaming available. Several Port System Authorities will organize seminars, meetings and other initiatives in their territories on the theme with numerous personalities who will intervene. A closing speech is expected by the Italian Minister of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility, Prof. Enrico Giovannini.

This event will be the occasion to spread the Patto per la Parità di Genere (Pact for Gender Equality), drafted and signed by Assoporti and all the Port System Authorities within the project – Women in Transport – the challenge for Italian Ports -, last August.

The whole day agenda is available here (in Italian), while more information about the Pact are here (in Italian).
