Due to Covid19 restrictions and the UK being in national lockdown the event was fully organised online on 4th of March. It was attended by 25 participants from a variety of backgrounds in transport and research sectors. Webinar entitled `Success stories of female executives in the transport industry` was opened by Prof Ann-Marie Nienaber with presentation of research conducted by TInnGO team last year on female employment and entrepreneurship in transport followed by presentations of 3 guests: Dr. Clare Linton, Policy and Research Advisor at Urban Transport Group; Ali Bell, Head of External Communications for UK Bus at National Express, and Charmaine Swann, Principal Research Analyst who spoke about challenges and opportunities they came across their professional journey.
The main objective was to showcase successful stories of women in the transport domain, entrepreneurs, leaders in transport and smart mobility and to provide an engaging experience for all women interested in transport careers, and for them to take away inspirational stories and tips to apply to their own professional journey, as well as facilitate networking and building the support system for women entering careers in transport.
All attendees had an opportunity to discuss issues related with female careers in transport in Q&A panel. The topics covered a variety of areas for professional and personal development, mental health and building professional boundaries, creating abundance, building a confident mindset, achieving goals, and defining the role of female mentorship and networking.
