Baltic hub holds a focus group discussion on women career in Mobility

The Baltic Hub of the TInnGO project, which is based in Vilnius, held a focus group meeting on 10th January in Smart Continent headquarters. The participants, representing different work positions in different mobility and transport companies, were brought together to share their opinions on career in transport.

The objective of this focus group was to gain insights on the current situation of gender-related aspects of employees in mobility field. The discussion of the focus group covered the topics of the participants‘ viewpoint on importance of a gender of an employee in the transport industry, of their career choices and a conversation, whether they see any kind of challenges and opportunities in their professional paths and how they are related with their gender. The guests shared different views on possible improvements in the field and debated on the importance of education, the influence of social stereotypes, the role of the parents for the career choices, the reconciliation of career and private life, and challenges how to make the transportation sector more inclusive in the terms of gender, age, religion, etc.

The further Baltic hub‘s intention is to get insights on barriers to work in the transportation sector by meeting the women who have finished transport education studies but do not work in this field. The current interest is emphasized on their career preferences, motivation and personal perceptions on the matter.
